Eclipse Setup

The following steps outline how to correctly import the Java version of MethodInvocationRemoting into the Eclipse IDE (valid as of Eclipse Luna version 4.4.1)...

  1. Start Eclipse and at the 'Workspace Launcher' console, select a path in which to create a new workspace for MethodInvocationRemoting.
  2. For each of the MethodInvocationRemoting remoting projects, import the project into the new workspace using the menu option 'File > Import > General > Existing Projects into Workspace' (select the root directory of each project in the 'Select root directory' field e.g. 'ApplicationLogging', 'ApplicationMetrics', etc...).
  3. If the GitHub client is installed, you may find the projects show errors and the text 'MethodInvocationRemoting master' next to each project. If this is the case, then delete the following directory corresponding to each project (where 'project name' is 'ApplicationLogging', 'ApplicationMetrics', etc)...
    [workspace path]\.metadata\.plugins\org.eclipse.core.resources\.projects\[project name]\org.eclipse.egit.core
    ...then restart Eclipse.
